What is a Wellness Hotel?

A Wellness hotel, sometimes referred to as a “Healthel” which are most popular in Europe, is a hotel which offers facilities and services which improve health and wellness. This may be a hotel which offers relaxing massage treatments and spas or may just be a hotel which offers fitness and nutritional coaching.

Many individuals choose to go on holiday that includes accommodating in a wellness hotel (for example in the Wellnesshotel Bayern) so that  as well as taking a vacation, they can also improve their health and indulge in relaxing treatments. There are different types of wellness hotels. The type which cater for people who are seriously ill and need long term treatment, surgery, rehabilitation or counselling and the type which may just be a hotel which includes a spa or sauna. Although these are not classed as full wellness hotel's, many tend to believe that they fit into the category of wellness hotels and therefore class themselves as one.

Personally, I enjoy indulging in  a holiday accommodated in a wellness hotel because it gives me time to enjoy myself and also time to relax in the soothing spas. There’s nothing better than taking a relaxing sauna and getting a soothing mud treatment after a big night out on holiday.  The level of quality may vary when it comes to choosing the right wellness hotel so always make sure that you check out all of the features and services that it has to offer.

Typically, a quality luxury wellness hotel should include a wide range of highly trained medical staff which should offer physical examinations, fitness and nutrition coaching and a number of other programmes to help improve your health.

The features and services that the wellness hotel has to offer may vary by location. Wellness hotels in Europe usually focus on more natural kind of services such as spa's, swimming pools and general fitness coaching whereas other wellness hotels, generally from the west tend to focus more on the major medical procedures such as long term treatments, surgery and rehabilitation.

Individuals may use a wellness hotels as their accommodation but generally may not use all of the features that it has to offer. Typically some people may reside in a wellness hotel when visiting a destination but may not use the facilities that it has to offer. Other people may take a holiday which involves staying in a wellness hotel solely for the purpose of using the facilities to maintain their health and well-being. Bavaria, which is located in Germany is the most popular location for wellness hotels as it contains some of the best quality, luxury wellness hotels in the world and is known for its springs which are rich in salts and minerals and offer natural healing for the human body.

These type of wellness hotels are usually more complex and advanced than the standard wellness hotels that you may find and offer a wide range of facilities ranging from advanced spas which offer rejuvenating baths, to complex massages which offer extremely relaxing massage and treatment experiences.
